Use the Built-In Water Lock
Apple Watch has a Water Lock mode that locks the touchscreen and, when you turn it off, plays sound to eject water. Open Control Center, tap the water drop icon, then when finished turn the Digital Crown until the screen unlocks. You will feel vibration and hear a series of tones. Official instructions are on Apple Watch support.
Use Our Tone as a Backup
If the watch speaker is still muffled, place the watch speaker side near your phone's speaker. Starting the water eject sound on the phone will not push water out of the watch directly, so instead play it with the watch resting on a soft surface and the watch speaker facing down. For watches that support playing audio on the watch itself, use its water eject feature repeatedly.
Other Smartwatches
Galaxy Watch, Fitbit and Garmin devices include similar water lock modes. Check your user manual. Wear OS watches usually have a water lock tile. After use, rinse salt and chlorine off with fresh water and dry with a soft cloth.
Care Tips
Avoid hot tubs and saunas, remove soapy residue, and replace bands regularly. For other speakers see iPhone speaker water removal.
